Breaking News Anchor/News Producer

About us:

4 News Now, a Morgan Murphy Media company and the ABC affiliate in Spokane, Washington, is a family-owned, people-first newsroom.  The community is at the core of what we do and who we are and we believe it is our duty to inform, but also to inspire.

About this opportunity:

Want to work in a newsroom where you have the creative freedom to try new things? Want to produce and present compelling, informative content across all platforms?  Come work for 4 News Now. We're looking for a smart, creative, hard-working, engaged storyteller to serve as our Breaking News Anchor/producer. You’ll be a part of our fast-paced, successful morning newscast.  You’ll work with an experienced team of newsroom managers, producers and anchors – and, alongside a team of excited journalists, always looking for interesting ways to deliver content. You’ll deliver breaking news updates on our morning show Breaking Now Desk, giving you a chance to grow as a reporter and anchor on the morning news. You’ll also help produce that morning show and contribute on our digital platforms. This is a newsroom with a reputation for a positive working environment. We also pride ourselves on helping journalists get to their dream markets. We’re more about quality and context here than story count. Here, everyone’s voice matters in developing our vision and strategy for local news. We value your life outside of the newsroom as much as we appreciate the work you do to produce content across platforms. All of this in a city where you can spend your time exploring exciting restaurants, outdoor activities and adventure instead of sitting in your car in a long commute.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, coordinate & organize news coverage into daily newscast
  • Write & edit news stories for newscasts
  • Contribute content to digital platforms
  • Present news content on the air

What you’ll bring:

  • 4-year degree with an emphasis in Journalism, Mass Communications or equivalent
          • Prior TV news producing experience
          • Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems
          • Possess strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
          • Possess sound news judgment
          • Proficient at posting content to various websites
          • Able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
          • Excellent project-management skills and constant attention to detail
          • Thorough knowledge of media law

What 4 News Now offers:
